2023 Recipients

The Sharmayne D. White Scholastic Award, founded in 2017 as a tribute to our dear friend Sharmayne, a shining example of faith and youth empowerment. The hearts behind this award, Michael and Cheryl Etheredge, shared ministry and a deep connection with Sharmayne, who held a passion for nurturing young hearts.

Education was her cornerstone. Sharmayne held a Bachelor’s from Southern University and a Master’s from the University of West Florida. She dedicated her last days to counseling troubled youth at Lakeview Center, leaving a lasting impact.

To earn the Sharmayne D. White Scholastic Award, athletes maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher, honoring Sharmayne’s love for learning.

In 2021, the Etheredge family extended our commitment by creating the Golden Elite and Sharmayne D. White Scholarship, offering two $500 awards to deserving high school track and field or cross country seniors. 

This legacy blooms from friendship, faith, and a shared dedication to youth and education.
